Why this platform exists

CadranZero came out of a field observation, while working on carbon inventories: the dominant share of a watch house's footprint sits with its suppliers, and no one had a way to collect it other than by sending questionnaires.

The starting observation

A watch house that calculates its footprint quickly reaches the same result: the bulk sits in the purchased goods and services category, and that category is calculated per franc spent, for want of better.

On the supplier side the picture is symmetrical. A subcontracting SME receives its ten clients' questionnaires, each in a different format, none reusable. It spends time on them without ever getting a figure it can use itself.

The two problems are one: the data does not exist because no one has an interest in producing it. That is what this platform sets out to reverse, by being free for whoever produces it.

Roots in French-speaking Switzerland, and why that matters

CadranZero is published and operated in Switzerland, by a publisher under Swiss law, and addresses Swiss watchmaking first. This is not a communication line, it is a design constraint: the data is hosted in Switzerland, the platform speaks the four languages of its market, and the Swiss reference emission factors come first.

The publisher's full identity and postal address are provided on request, and appear in the contract given to every client company before signature.

What guides product decisions

  • Never display a figure that could not be defended: every line cites its factor, its source and its reference location.
  • State the limits rather than hide them: a single indicator, approximations openly assumed, data that ages.
  • Claim nothing that is not true: no certified assessment, no certification the platform does not hold.
  • Leave the supplier in control of what they show, part by part, revocable at any time.

Where the product stands

The platform is in service. Accounts open one at a time, after a conversation: that is deliberate, at this stage we prefer a few well-supported users to many sign-ups that go nowhere.

The resource centre grows week by week. If a topic is missing, write to us: that is how the list is built.
